Bruce Mau Design

Bruce Mau is the Canadian designer who wrote Massive Change, and became famous for his Incomplete Manifesto for Growth.  I follow the blog of his Chicago design firm religiously -BMD Love Blog- and it serves as a constant reminder that there are bright, creative, grounded people out there working to design a way out of our greatest problems.  Reading its posts is exponentially better for you than obsessing over the latest political inch at the Huffington Post.

Design Sponge is one of the sweetest design blogs out there, covering everything from cocktails to printing presses to transformed flea market finds.  I spend hours sometimes pouring over the Sneak Peaks of other people's offices and apartments, and it always reminds me of the importance of the creative space.  Everyone needs a nest, a place where they can loaf and think and develop a powerful inner life that can then be expressed or protected.  I am checking in more than usual these days, preparing to move Write Now into an office four times the size we have now (don't get too excited -- it;s a move from 100 sq. ft. to 400 sq. ft.!  But still...)  I want to imagine and design an inspiring space for everyone.  Thanks Grace Bonney, for all you do!

Easier to reach shit!  How did Rob know I am only 5'2" and need more accessible blackberry bushes!  And a new Blackberry (my old Sidekick is done for following a buried-in-the-beach-sand-incident.)

Bibio

Bibo's new album Ambivalence Avenue is SO delish.  When it's on, I am constantly checking every three songs or so to see "is that still Bibio?"  Diverse, trippy, happy, loungy, crunchy when you want crunchy, creamy when you want creamy.  Sweet tiny player on the homepage has three of there songs loaded up into it.  Yeah.  Right below the pulising yes star.

Vaclav Havel

The gem that turned me on to this whole idea that a poet or a playwright could be a president....
