From Amber Tamblyn:

I’m so excited to share my seventh (!) book, Listening in the Dark: Women Reclaiming the Power of Intuition, available everywhere October 18th, 2022. Listening in the Dark is an anthology of essays about a woman’s relationship to her intuitive intelligence, written by extraordinary women across industries, from teachers and healers to actors and artists. These essays explore how each author learned to trust what their gut was telling them and how to use that as a practical tool in everyday life, or even to change the world.

The list of contributors is my wildest dream come true, and I’m so lucky to share these pages alongside them: Jia Tolentino, Amy Poehler, Lidia Yuknavitch, Samantha Irby, Dr. Mindy Nettifee, Jessica Valenti, Dr. Nicole Apelian, Meredith Talusan, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Dr. Dara Kass, US Poet Laureate Ada Limón, Huma Abedin, Emily Wells, America Ferrera, and, last but not least, my own mom, Bonnie Tamblyn.

For my part, I edited this beautiful collection and wrote accompanying essays illuminating the themes shared throughout while also shedding light on new ones: my own experiences with childhood trauma; what dreams can teach us about intuitive understanding; and a reckoning with the history of women’s oppressed intuition, from medieval times all the way through the modern era we are currently living in.

Now more than ever, listening to our gut—to that voice inside that the outside world wants quieted—is an act of defiance and resistance against a culture that aims to maintain that silencing. I hope this book helps everyone find a new path to fight against it, to be heard.
